Introduction:
The Navua River is located in the island of Viti Levu in Fiji and has its source on the south east slope of Mount Gordon and flows for 65 kilometers to the south coast. It is noted for the scenic beauty of the rugged mountain country through which it flows.
Fact:
This is a special trip not because of one unparalleled attribute upon which the success of the trip is based, but many special and scenically significant places; each individually worthy of special recognition. There is not one waterfall but many (some say at least seventy); not one short stretch of deep, narrow canyon, but kilometers. This is a place where black volcanic walls are at points barely five meters apart and over forty meters high and fringed by emerald rainforest. This is a place where man has been merely an intermittent visitor at best, where some of the wildest and most beautiful Fiji can still be found.
Getting there:
You'll be picked up from your selected hotel to begin your journey on a motor boat which takes you up the river past villages and through beautiful scenes of untouched nature before arriving to Nukusere village. Meet the locals and enjoy a traditional Kava ceremony followed by and tropical Fijian lunch. Enjoy a swim in the clear fresh mountain water and visit specialty shops before returning down the river.
